About the event
June 26 - The Proud Islanders’ present a special bilingual performance by Karl Proud, and Armand Arsenault, with musicians Louise Arsenault (fiddle) and Helene Bergeron (keys and step dancing).
"The Proud Islanders" on PEI represents a musical group playing traditional songs, and refers to the pride locals take in their province.
Karl Proud was born in Springvale and his first love was Bluegrass music. His next venture was traditional music and he formed the Docksider's Band with Albert Arsenault. Karl is determined to keep the music alive of some artists and songwriters who are no longer with us, as well as promoting some of the newer songwriters.
Armand Arsenault was born in Abram's Village. He comes from a musical family. He started out with Guitar and then migrated the accordion. He is self taught and his repertoire includes Celtic, traditional, folk and country in both English and French.
